Referring Doctors

Referring Doctors

Dr Lebogang Mmusi welcomes referrals from general practitioners, family physicians and other specialists. She provides personalised, evidence-based assessment and management of rheumatic, autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, while working collaboratively with referring doctors to ensure continuity of care.

Patients will be assessed and managed in collaboration with the referring practitioner, with feedback provided following consultation where appropriate.

When to Refer

Patients may benefit from rheumatology assessment for:

  • Persistent or unexplained joint pain, swelling or stiffness
  • Suspected inflammatory arthritis
  • Autoimmune or connective tissue disorders
  • Unexplained or persistent inflammation
  • Muscle pain or weakness
  • Suspected lupus, Sjögren's syndrome, scleroderma or vasculitis
  • Psoriatic arthritis or inflammatory back pain
  • Complex, unexplained or treatment-resistant rheumatological symptoms
  • Abnormal autoimmune blood tests requiring specialist interpretation
  • Recurrent gout or difficult-to-control hyperuricaemia
  • Suspected osteoporosis or fragility fractures

What to Include With Your Referral

Where available, please provide:

  • Reason for referral and relevant clinical history
  • Current medications and previous treatments
  • Relevant blood results, including inflammatory markers and autoimmune tests
  • Relevant imaging and reports
  • Previous specialist or treatment information

A concise clinical summary is particularly helpful in preparing for the patient's consultation.
